Comparison of self-expanding and balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valves morphology and association with paravalvular regurgitation: Evaluation using multidetector computed tomography
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Nov 09, 2017
Almeida JG, et al. - Authors pursued a comparative exploration of the self-expanding and balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valves morphology and association with paravalvular regurgitation (PVR), in patients requiring transcatheter aortic valve replacement. A greater eccentricity and under-expansion was reported via self-expanding prosthesis. Calcium burden exhibited a greater impact on the final morphology of that type of valve. Calcification and eccentricity displayed a link with the development of PVR. Such factors ought to be taken into account for the selection of the most suitable type of prosthesis for each scenario.
