Comparison of quadriceps-sparing and medial parapatellar approaches in total knee arthroplasty: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Kazarian GS, et al. – This study investigated the benefits of quadriceps–sparing (QS) technique for total knee arthroplasty (TKA), in comparison to medial parapatellar (MP) approach. The QS technique offered no clinically significant advantages but demonstrated increased malalignment compared to MP, predisposing to early prosthesis failure. Researchers recommended against the routine use of the QS approach in TKA.
