Comparison of procedural success between two radial sheaths
Herz Jun 02, 2018
Gul B, et al. - Researchers compared the procedural success rate in patients who underwent percutaneous coronary angiography via the transradial approach through placement of a 6-Fr Glidesheath Slender or a 6-Fr standard sheath for primary radial access. Procedural success was defined by the ability to complete the procedure via primary radial access. They found that the 6-Fr Glidesheath Slender and the 6-Fr standard sheath did not provide different procedural success rates. Nonetheless, difference may exist in the patient characteristics that elevate the risk of procedural failure for Glidesheath Slender or for the standard sheath. In the Glidesheath Slender group, the procedural outcome was impacted by smoking, hyperlipidemia, and age, while body mass index, sex, and smoking influenced the procedural outcome in the standard sheath group.
