Comparison of post-operative complications following metal-on-metal total hip arthroplasty with other hip bearings in medicare population
Journal of Arthroplasty Feb 10, 2018
Kleeman L, et al. - This trial was aimed to evaluate whether metal-on-metal (MoM) implants were related to higher complication and revision rates as compared to other hip bearings in the Medicare cohort. In the study population, higher revision rates were noted with the metal-on-metal implant (5.28%) when compared to metal-on-polyethylene (4.28%) and ceramic-on-polyethylene (3.52%) implants. As per the findings, both complication and revision rates were comparable to ceramic-on-ceramic implants.
