Comparison of pathology sampling protocols for pancreatoduodenectomy specimens
Virchows Archiv Dec 17, 2019
Grillo F, Ferro J, Vanoli A, et al. - Comparison between standardized and non-standardized protocols (NSP) was done with stress on margin involvement and yield of the lymph node. Pancreatoduodenectomy cases were retrospectively enrolled, ie, sampled with Leeds protocol (LP, n = 46), cases with Adsay protocol (AP, n = 52) and cases with NSP (n = 46). Results explicated that in pancreatoduodenectomy cut up, compared with non-standardized sampling, both LP and AP perform better-making standardization mandatory. Moreover, both AP and LP revealed strengths and weaknesses, and these may influence on the selection of the protocol in various institutions.
