Comparison of pain-reducing effect after selective nerve root block according to the type of lumbar foraminal stenosis
Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques Mar 08, 2019
Ko S, et al. - Investigators estimated the comparative diversity in clinical characteristics among 233 subjects with variable degrees of lumbar foraminal stenosis (LFS), and also the therapeutic influence of selective nerve root block (SNRB) in this nonrandomized controlled cohort study (level 3). No significant differences in visual analog scale with respect to the degree of stenosis were noticed. They noted great improvements in pain after 2 weeks whereas no significant differences in symptomatic improvement rates over time except LFS grade 1V were noted. They found SNRBs more efficient in subjects with LFS grade 1T, 2 and 3 as compared to grade 1V cases, at after 12 weeks.
