Comparison of outcomes of transfemoral aortic valve implantation in patients <90 to those >90 years of age
The American Journal of Cardiology Mar 22, 2018
Vendrik J, et al. - Herein, the evaluation of procedural outcome and mid-term mortality of transfemoral (TF)-transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) among patients aged ≥90 years vs patients aged <90 years revealed a similar symptomatic improvement and acceptable procedural outcome and mid-term survival among nonagenarians in comparison to TF-TAVI patients aged <90 years. Overall, it was shown that age is not a risk factor in predicting postoperative outcome and mortality, and therefore should not be a reason to deny the oldest-old patient transfemoral TAVI.
