Comparison of optical quality and distinct macular thickness in femtosecond laser-assisted vs phacoemulsification cataract surgery
BMC Ophthalmology Feb 06, 2020
Wang Y, Zhang J, Qin M, et al. - In this investigation involving 100 cataract individuals, researchers sought to assess optical quality recovery and distinct macular thickness changes following femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and phacoemulsification cataract surgery (PCS). In order to evaluate the macular thickness of different regions pre-operatively and1month after the surgery, optical coherence tomography was used. In the current study, FLACS is safe which did not cause a significant increase in macular thickness. It can not, however, produce better optical quality too. PCS, by contrast, can produce changes in macular thickness but better recovery of optical quality. The slight retinal modification may not affect the optical quality.
