Comparison of optic disk features in preterm and term infants
Journal of AAPOS Jul 26, 2018
Kuruvilla SE, et al. - Experts compared the optic disk features of preterm and term infants. A double ring sign around the optic disk in the absence of optic nerve hypoplasia was seen in preterm infants of this study population. As per data, preterm disks were more vertically oval, while closer to term the disks become less oval. Among normal preterm infants, the mean disk-to-macula to disk-diameter ratio was higher than previously reported. In preterm infants, the ratio of disk-to-macula distance to the horizontal disk diameter was 3.9 at the final examination. In term infants, this ratio was 3.7.
