International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Apr 02, 2018
Brian W, et al. - Experts demonstrated and compared medical, radiological, and audiological outcomes in pediatric cochlear implant recipients who had undergone 1.5 and 3 Tesla strength MRI with and without retained magnet. The inclusion criteria consisted of subjects who had MRI after cochlear implant. It was noted that MRI with and without magnet retention possibly displayed the risks of both major and minor complications. For the regions of interest for each scan, magnet status did not appreciably alter the MRI quality. During MRI, magnet status did not seem to affect the audiological measures. Nonetheless, this possibly depicted natural variation.
