Comparison of microvesicle tissue factor activity in non-cancer severely ill patients and cancer patients
Thrombosis Research Mar 13, 2018
Hisada Y, et al. - Researchers resolved to estimate the levels of microvesicles (MVs) tissue factor (TF) activity in non-cancer severely ill patients and cancer patients in order to determine the risk of thrombosis. Findings disclosed that the levels of MV TF activity were not related to venous thromboembolism in cancer patients. When compared with healthy controls, cancer patients along with severely ill patients with the infection exhibited higher levels of MV TF activity. Herein, individuals with adenocarcinoma presented with higher levels of MV TF activity than those with other types of cancer. Data shed light on the connection between elevated levels of MV TF activity with reduced survival in cancer patients.
