Comparison of magnetic resonance angiography and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography in large-vessel vasculitis

Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Jul 24, 2018

Quinn KA, et al. - Researchers assessed the agreement between the interpretation of magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) for disease extent and disease activity in large-vessel vasculitis (LVV) and ascertained the relationships between imaging and clinical assessments. Unique and complementary information was contributed by MRA and PET in the assessment of LVV. Disease extent is better captured by MRA, and to assess vascular activity, PET scan is better suited. Often, an association between clinical and imaging-based assessments over the disease course in LVV was not seen.
