Comparison of low dose catheter-directed thrombolysis with and without pharmacomechanical thrombectomy for acute lower extremity ischemia

Annals of Vascular Surgery Aug 11, 2017

Gandhi SS, et al. – A comparison was performed of the use of catheter directed thrombolysis (CDT) with and without pharmacomechanical thrombectomy (PMT) for the treatment of acute limb ischemia (ALI). Findings suggested no difference between PMT + CDT and CDT alone in terms of peri–procedural complications or outcomes. In the quest to resolve ALI, initial thrombus extraction with PMT could not reduce the need, duration, or efficacy of CDT.
