Comparison of linoleic acid-containing water-in-oil emulsion with urea-containing water-in-oil emulsion in the treatment of atopic dermatitis: A randomized clinical trial
Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology Jan 11, 2018
Nasrollahi SA, et al. - Researchers undertook a comparative exploration of the efficacy and safety of two cosmetic products containing either linoleic acid (LA) or urea in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD). A notable improvement could be achieved in the dysfunction and clinical severity of AD via both LA- or urea-containing water-in-oil (w/o) emulsions. Data affirmed that an LA-containing w/o emulsion illustrated erythema-reducing effects. Patients were advised to opt for a product by individual preference following a recommendation by their dermatologists as emollients ought to be used on a regular basis.
