Comparison of levosimendan and milrinone for ECLS weaning in patients after cardiac surgery: A retrospective before-and-after study
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia May 24, 2018
Jacky A, et al. - Researchers report their clinical experiences in extracorporeal life support (ECLS) weaning before and after the implementation of levosimendan. They used the Mann-Whitney U test or the Pearson chi-squared test to analyze group comparisons between patients under ECLS for postcardiotomy cardiac failure, treated with levosimendan vs milrinone. Results are given as median (interquartile range) or numbers (percentages). Relative to a control group receiving milrinone, levosimendan enabled ECLS weaning without increasing norepinephrine requirements. In both groups, similar 28 days and 180 days mortalities after ECLS removal were reported.
