Comparison of intracoronary vs intravenous adenosine-induced maximal hyperemia for fractional flow reserve measurement: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions May 15, 2019
Abo-Aly M, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the differences between intracoronary (IC) vs standard continuous intravenous (IV) adenosine administration for inducing maximal hyperemia for fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurement. They analyzed 8 studies identified from MEDLINE and relevant databases and comparing IV with IC adenosine administration for FFR measurement. Data regarding adenosine doses, side effects, and FFR values were analyzed. Findings revealed good tolerability of IC adenosine. The diagnostic accuracy of IC adenosine was suggested to be possibly equivalent to that of IV administration. However, definitive conclusions with respect to noninferiority of IC approach vs IV administration were not reached due to variability in dosing regimens.
