Comparison of intra-articular hyaluronic acid and methylprednisolone for pain management in knee osteoarthritis: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
International Journal of Surgery | Mar 29, 2018
Ran J, et al. - The efficacy and safety of intra-articular methylprednisolone versus hyaluronic acid (HA) in term of pain reduction and improvements of knee function in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) were determined in this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). For patients with knee OA, both HA and methylprednisolone injections proved effective. Compared to HA, methylprednisolone demonstrated comparable efficacy in reducing pain and improving functional recovery. No significant difference in terms of adverse effects in long-term of follow-up were noted.
