Comparison of general anaesthesia and non-general anaesthesia approach in transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation
Heart Apr 08, 2018
Eskandari M, et al. - The impact on procedural outcome, 30-day and 1-year mortality of general anesthesia (GA) vs non-GA approaches in transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) was determined using data from the UK TAVI registry for patients. These patients were implanted using either an Edwards Sapien or a Medtronic CoreValve prosthesis. A total of 2243 patients were studied. The mode of anesthesia had no impact on procedure outcome, 30-day and 1-year mortality, however, GA was shown to be related to longer procedure duration and greater length of stay.
