Comparison of functional outcomes of robotic and open partial nephrectomy in patients with pre-existing chronic kidney disease: A multicenter study
World Journal of Urology Mar 15, 2018
Hamilton ZA, et al. - The renal functional outcomes of robotic (RPN) and open partial nephrectomy (OPN) were compared in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), a definite indication for nephron-sparing surgery. When stratified by tumor complexity group, similar renal functional outcomes were demonstrated by RPN and OPN. Primary drivers associated with functional decline were increasing tumor age and tumor complexity. In appropriately selected patients, RPN was seen to provide similar renal functional outcomes to OPN.
