Comparison of female sexual function index in patients with psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis and healthy controls
Musculoskeletal Care Jun 27, 2019
Boone D, et al. - Via a descriptive correlational study of 50 female rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, 36 female psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients and 50 healthy women between June and September 2018, the researchers intended to recognize and distinguish the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) of three female populations. Significantly higher FSFI scores of controls than the RA patients were recognized across all six domains and the overall score. No statistically significant differences between the RA and PsA groups were noticed. No significant correlation of patient pain, patient global status and Health Assessment Questionnaire scores with the total FSFI score in either PsA or RA was observed. Hence, in comparison with controls, decreased sexual functioning was more common in women with RA and PsA. Therefore, for sexual dysfunction, all female patients with RA and PsA should be screened.
