Clinical Journal of Pain Oct 13, 2019
Isola G, Matarese G, Alibrandi A, et al. - Via performing this analysis, researchers sought to assess the relative efficacy of etoricoxib vs diclofenac in the management of perioperative sequelae following impacted mandibular third molar surgery. They performed random allocation of 97 patients who needed surgical avulsion of an impacted mandibular third molar to receive one of the following treatments, twice a day for 5 days after surgery: placebo (n = 33), diclofenac (n = 32), or etoricoxib (n = 32). Outcomes revealed both treatments as efficacious. However, a greater reduction in the incidence and severity of postoperative pain following third molar surgery was achieved with etoricoxib treatment vs diclofenac and placebo.
