Wu CC, et al. - This study analyzed the available literature data on the diagnostic accuracy of presepsin for sepsis in adult patients and compared the performance between presepsin, C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin (PCT). Data indicated that like PCT or CRP, presepsin is a promising marker for diagnosis of sepsis, nonetheless, caution must be exercised when interpreting its results and its continuous re-evaluation during the course of sepsis is recommendable.
