Comparison of aortitis vs non-inflammatory aortic aneurysms among patients who undergo open aortic aneurysm repair

Arthritis & Rheumatology Mar 06, 2020

Laarni Quimson L, et al. - This research investigated surgically diagnosed aortitis and distinguished individual characteristics and imaging findings associated with the disease. Researchers recruited a total of 262 individuals: 43 individuals with aortitis and 219 controls. Evidence suggested that elderly females with no history of coronary artery disease and evidence of other aortic or arterial wall thickening on imaging are more likely to have histologic evidence of aortitis among patients who undergo open surgical repair of an aortic aneurysm. Patients with these characteristics may help from further rheumatologic evaluation. Ederly females with no history of CAD and evidence of other aortic or arterial wall thickening on imaging are more likely to have histologic evidence of aortitis.
