Comparison of antral follicle count and serum anti Müllerian hormone level for determination of gonadotropin dosing in in-vitro fertilization: Randomized trial
Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology Feb 13, 2020
LI HWR, Ko JKY, Lee VCY, et al. - Researchers conducted a randomized double-blind trial including a total of 200 women undergoing their first in-vitro fertilization cycle using the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)-antagonist protocol at a university-affiliated assisted reproduction unit in order to determine the proportion of women achieving a desired ovarian response following ovarian stimulation when gonadotropin dosing was determined based on antral follicle count (AFC) vs serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) level. The desired ovarian response was defined as the retrieval of six to 14 oocytes. Following ovarian stimulation using the GnRH-antagonist protocol, a similar proportion of women attained a desired ovarian response when the gonadotropin-dosing algorithm employed is based on AFC or serum AMH level.
