Comparison of antibiotic prescribing for pediatric community-acquired pneumonia in children’s and non-children’s hospitals

Tribble AC, et al. - In this investigation, researchers compared antibiotic prescribing for community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) between hospital types before and after guideline publication in 2011. Although the use of these agents for CAP is increasing in hospitals for children, there are unknown trends in the prescription of antibiotics for children admitted to hospitals for non-children, where 70% of hospitalized children are treated.
