Comparison of adjuvant radiation therapy before or after artificial urinary sphincter placement: A multi-institutional, retrospective analysis
Urology Dec 12, 2017
DeLay KJ, et al. - Researchers strived to ascertain if the timing of radiation therapy on artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) exerted an impact on the complication rates, revision rates, and the number of pads per day after placement, in men with prostate cancer. It was discovered that the timing of radiation therapy did not prominently influence the complication rates or urinary continence, as estimated in pads used post-AUS placement. Similar erosion and revision rates were yielded with the occurrence of radiation following AUS placement. The results also illustrated the preliminary safety and feasibility of the administration of radiation after AUS placement.
