Comparison of 3-year clinical outcomes after endovascular therapy for aortoiliac artery occlusive disease between patients with and without hemodialysis: Subanalysis of the REAL-AI registry
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Dec 13, 2018
Tokuda T, et al. - In the cohort of this large-scale, multicenter, retrospective registry study including 574 consecutive patients with aortoiliac (AI) occlusive disease, researchers assessed primary patency, assisted primary patency, and secondary patency as well as overall survival and major adverse limb events (MALEs) over 3-years following endovascular treatment (EVT) for AI occlusive lesions in 57 propensity-matched pairs of patients who did and did not undergo hemodialysis (HD). According to findings, the observed primary patency, assisted primary patency, secondary patency, and MALEs at 3 years did not show any significant difference. The HD group vs the without-HD group had significantly lower survival rate (68% vs 93%). Overall, EVT for AI occlusive lesions offered reasonable outcomes in HD patients.
