Comparison of 3% hypertonic saline and 20% mannitol for reducing intracranial pressure in patients undergoing supratentorial brain tumor surgery: A randomized, double-blind clinical trial
Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology Mar 21, 2018
Ali A, et al. - This study was designed to test the hypothesis that 3% hypertonic saline (HS) is more effective than 20% mannitol in reducing intracranial pressure (ICP) and modifying brain bulk in patients undergoing an elective supratentorial craniotomy. More effective ICP reduction was achieved with 3% HS versus 20% mannitol during supratentorial brain tumor surgery.
