Comparison between the use of intense pulsed light and Q‐switched neodymium‐doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser for the treatment of axillary hyperpigmentation
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Feb 10, 2021
Amornpetkul W, Kanokrungsri S, Kamanamool N, et al. - Provided that the Q‐switched neodymium‐doped yttrium aluminum garnet 1064‐nm(QS) laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) are two powerful modalities for the treatment of pigmentary disorders, researchers performed this randomized, split‐side study to assess and compare the effectiveness and safety of the QS laser and IPL in the treatment of axillary hyperpigmentation (AH). All participants (n = 22) received a total of five split‐side treatments every 2 weeks. For the treatment of AH, IPL therapy is safe and effective, with no substantial difference in outcome as compared with QS laser treatment.
