Comparison between robot-assisted radical hysterectomy and abdominal radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer: A multicentre retrospective study
Gynecologic Oncology Feb 25, 2020
Chen B, Ji M, Li P, et al. - Researchers compared robot-assisted radical hysterectomy (RRH) vs abdominal radical hysterectomy (ARH) for cervical cancer, focusing on 3-year overall survival (OS) as well as disease-free survival (DFS) rates. A retrospective comparison was performed for oncological results of 10,314 cervical cancer patients who were treated with RRH (n = 1,048) or ARH (n = 9,266) and whose stages were IA1 with lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI)-IIA2. Experts found similar 3-year OS and DFS rates between RRH and ARH. Findings revealed worse 3-year oncological outcomes in relation to RRH vs ARH in patients with FIGO stage IA1 with LVSI- IIA2 cervical cancer. However, in those having stage IB1 and tumor size < 2 cm, RRH displayed similar 3-year oncological results with ARH.
