Injury Aug 17, 2017
Kulkarni VS, et al. – The authors aimed to assess the clinical, radiological and functional outcome of open reduction plate osteosynthesis (ORPO), minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO), antegrade intramedullary nailing(IMN) in the treatment of humerus diaphyseal fractures. With respect to non–union, functional outcome and complications rate, MIPO was overall better. The surgical time depended on the surgeons skill and learning curve. Therefore, considering the advantages and risks involved in the various procedure and surgical acumen, each case had to be individualized to have a good outcome. They supported that in treating these fractures, MIPO could be safely used as an alternative.
