Comparison between adjuvant and early-salvage postprostatectomy radiotherapy for prostate cancer with adverse pathological features
JAMA Oncology Jan 31, 2018
Hwang WL, et al. - As a part of this research, the clinical outcomes of postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy (ART) and early-salvage radiotherapy (ESRT) were comparatively examined that were administered to patients with prostate cancer with adverse pathological features. Results shed light on the connection between adjuvant RT with reduced biochemical recurrence, distant metastases, and death for high-risk patients, pending prospective validation when compared with ESRT. A larger proportion of patients with prostate cancer presenting with adverse pathological features could gain an advantage from postprostatectomy ART instead of surveillance followed by ESRT.
