Comparison between 90-degree and 360-degree selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT): A 2-year follow-up
Acta Ophthalmologica Oct 21, 2018
Tawfique K, et al. - In patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension (OHT), researchers compared the impact of 90- and 360-degree selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) as primary or supplement therapy. Patients (>30 years old) with OHT, primary open-angle glaucoma, pigmentary glaucoma or pseudoexfoliative glaucoma were enrolled in this prospective randomized clinical trial. Findings suggested comparable efficacy of the 90-degree SLT and the 360-degree SLT. A factor that predicts treatment success could be high baseline IOP. They did not notice statistically significant difference in the survival periods of the 90 and 360 degree- treatment; survival of treatment could be only predicted by the pretreatment level of IOP.
