Comparing the efficacy of local triamcinolone injection in carpal tunnel syndrome using three different approaches with or without ultrasound guidance
Journal of Pain Research Oct 31, 2019
Rayegani SM, et al. - Researchers examined the added value of ultrasound (US) guidance in increasing the efficacy of local triamcinolone injection via comparing two US-guided methods vs a conventional landmark-guided approach. They included 81 individuals with mild or moderate CTS and randomly assigned them into three categories including landmark-guided, conventional US-guided midline approach and US-guided ulnar in-plane method. Outcomes support the efficacy of all three injection methods in enhancing electrodiagnostic findings and clinical symptoms of CTS. Despite the relative similarity of all approaches, US-guided midline approach was correlated with slightly better outcomes.
