Comparing short-term complications of inpatient vs outpatient single-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion: An analysis of 6,940 patients using the ACS-NSQIP database

Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques Feb 09, 2018

Khanna R, et al. - The experts sought to ascertain the baseline 30-day complication rates for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Clinical complications for patients undergoing single-level ACDFs between the inpatient and outpatient settings were also compared by them. A lower 30-day complication rate was noted in the patients undergoing single-level ACDF in the outpatient setting vs those undergoing it in the inpatient setting. It was determined that the outpatient surgery for single-level ACDF was a safe and favorable option for suitable patients.
