Thakral M, et al. - Authors performed this study to assess the effect of dose reduction and risk mitigation initiatives, such as those recently recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), to reduce risks associated with chronic opioid therapy (COT) on global pain and interference, depressive symptoms, and perceived pain relief and bothersomeness of side effects. As per findings, COT patients in clinics with dose reduction and risk mitigation initiatives seemed to have no clinically meaningful differences in pain intensity, interference with activities and enjoyment of life, or depressive symptoms compared to similar healthcare settings without initiatives
