Comparing age at cancer diagnosis between Hispanics and non-Hispanic Whites in the United States
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Aug 04, 2021
Parada H, Vu AH, Pinheiro PS, et al. - Hispanics are diagnosed with cancer at a younger age than non-Hispanic Whites (NHWs) on average, however, for many cancers, these differences reflect Hispanics' younger age structure.
For all sites combined and for the majority of cancer sites, Hispanic males and females had lower crude mean ages at diagnosis.
After age-adjustment, Hispanic (vs NHW) males remained younger on average at diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia, testicular cancer, Kaposi sarcoma, mesothelioma, and anal cancer and older at diagnosis of gallbladder cancer and Hodgkin's lymphoma.
After age-adjustment, Hispanic (vs NHW) females remained younger at diagnosis of mesothelioma and gallbladder cancer and older at diagnosis of skin cancer, cervical cancer, and Hodgkin's lymphoma.
