Compared decline of residual kidney function in patients treated with automated peritoneal dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis: A multicenter study
Nephron Clinical Practice Oct 30, 2017
Perez Fontan M, et al. - This study was designed to assess the impact of peritoneal dialysis (PD) modality viz, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) or automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) on the rate of decline of residual kidney function (RKF). Researchers observed that starting PD patients directly on APD vs on CAPD was associated with a faster decline of RKF and a higher risk of developing anuria. They also noted that this detrimental impact was more marked in patients initiating PD with lower levels of RKF.
