Comparative study of the effects of venlafaxine and duloxetine on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology Aug 16, 2018
Farshchian N, et al. - In this clinical trial, researchers assessed the impacts of venlafaxine vs duloxetine on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. They randomly assigned cancer patients who were suffering from chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy to three pharmacotherapy groups including venlafaxine, duloxetine and placebo. They assessed cranial, sensory, motor neuropathies as well as neuropathic pain on day 1, week 2, and week 4 after enrollment. Based on the findings, treatment with duloxetine vs venlafaxine seemed to result in more effective decrease in the symptoms of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Moreover, a more effective decrease in motor neuropathy and neuropathic pain grade was observed following treatment with duloxetine vs venlafaxine.
