Comparative outcomes for open and endovascular repair of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms using anatomic criteria for treatment approach
Journal of Vascular Surgery Aug 25, 2018
Motaganahalli RL, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison of outcomes for open and endovascular repair of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (RAAAs) when treatment selection is based on anatomy. They analyzed 199 patients with RAAA (between 2010 and 2017), identified from a prospective database maintained by two academic centers. Outcomes suggest a reduced 30-day mortality for patients undergoing endovascular (E-RAAA) repair when anatomy is feasible. Patients with the poor physiologic score at arrival showed no such difference irrespective of the treatment approach chosen.
