Comparative genomic analysis of multidrug-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates
Infection and Drug Resistance May 13, 2018
Pan F, et al. - Considering the emergence of multidrug resistance in Streptococcus pneumoniae as a serious problem to public health, researchers sought for further information regarding the genetic diversity in antibiotic-resistant S. pneumoniae isolates. Findings suggested that pneumococcal isolates had similar genetic backgrounds, but the strains differed at the genomic level. These strains were noted exhibiting distinct variations in their indel and single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) compositions associated with drug resistance.
