Comparative effectiveness of 755‐nm picosecond laser, 755‐ and 532‐nm nanosecond lasers for treatment of café‐au‐lait macules (CALMs): A randomized, split‐lesion clinical trial
Lasers in Surgery and Medicine Sep 15, 2020
Cen Q, Gu Y, Luo L, et al. - Researchers investigated the relative efficacy and safety of 755 nm picosecond laser (PS‐755 nm), Q‐switched (QS) Alexandrite 755 nm nanosecond laser (QS‐755 nm), and QS Nd:YAG 532 nm nanosecond laser (QS‐532 nm) in treating café‐au‐lait macules (CALMs). Several treatments were provided to 41 patients at 3‐month intervals. Division of lesions into two or three nearly equal parts was performed; the parts were randomly treated with PS‐755 nm, QS‐755 nm, and QS‐532 nm. Outcomes suggest equal effectiveness of PS‐755 nm, QS‐755 nm, and QS‐532 nm laser treatments in treating and improving CALMs. Fewer adverse effects were observed in correlation with using PS‐755 nm. Reactions among individuals towards different types of lasers may differ. They emphasize conducting patch tests before the treatment.
