Comparative analysis of the safety and efficacy of intracameral cefuroxime, moxifloxacin and vancomycin at the end of cataract surgery: A meta-analysis
British Journal of Ophthalmology | Jan 17, 2018
Bowen RC, et al. - Experts undertook an investigation of the efficacy and safety profile of intracameral cefuroxime, moxifloxacin and vancomycin and the method of delivery to reduce postoperative endophthalmitis occurrence in patients who were undergoing cataract surgery. Reduced endophthalmitis rates were achieved by the use of intracameral cefuroxime and moxifloxacin when compared to controls with minimal or no toxicity events at standard doses. It was determined that the sole use of intracameral antibiotics could be as effective as intracameral plus topical antibiotics.
