Comparable cumulative incidence of late periprosthetic femoral fracture and aseptic stem loosening in uncemented total hip arthroplasty: A concise follow-up report at a minimum of 20 years
Journal of Arthroplasty Nov 22, 2017
Innmann MM, et al. - In a consecutive cohort of patients with primary uncemented total hip arthroplasties (THAs), a follow-up was performed after 20 to 25 years in order to compare the cumulative incidence of periprosthetic femoral fracture (PPFF) and aseptic stem loosening (ASL) and to identify risk factors associated with PPFFs. Following primary uncemented THA, a further increase in the cumulative incidence of PPFF was reported in the second decade and the incidence reached the incidence of ASL in the third decade. In addition, no risk factors for the occurrence of a PPFF could be identified.
