Comorbidity in psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Internal Medicine Journal Aug 03, 2018
Sinnathurai P, et al. - Using data from the Australian Rheumatology Association Database (ARAD), researchers characterized baseline demographics and prevalence of comorbidities in participants with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in an Australian cohort as well as compared the prevalence of comorbidities in ARAD participants with PsA to those with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Using descriptive statistics, demographic information and prevalence of comorbidities were reviewed. In ARAD participants with PsA, high rates of comorbidity were found. It was observed that participants with PsA had greater odds of depression, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes and a history of ischaemic heart disease vs RA.
