Swain S, et al. - Researchers determined the prevalence of comorbidities in people with osteoarthritis (OA) vs those without via performing a systematic review of 42 studies from 16 countries (27 case-only and 15 comparative studies). The investigators noted a higher tendency of people with OA for other chronic conditions. They identified the association as dose-dependent in terms of the number of comorbidities, inferring multimorbidities. Stroke, peptic ulcer, and metabolic syndrome were the key comorbidities associated with OA.
