Combining indocyanine green and Tc99-nanocolloid does not increase the detection rate of sentinel lymph nodes in early stage cervical cancer compared with indocyanine green alone
Gynecologic Oncology Dec 09, 2019
Lührs O, et al. - Researchers examined SLN-detection rate in cervical cancer by combining two independent tracers. They included 65 women with early-stage cervical cancer planned for a robotic radical hysterectomy or a robotic radical trachelectomy with sentinel lymph node (SLN) detection. Among these women, the bilateral mapping rate was 98.5% for Indocyanine green (ICG) and 60% for Tc99-nanocolloid (Tc99). This indicates a significantly higher SLN detection rate using ICG vs Tc99. ICG led to identification of all patients with lymph node metastases. No increase in the bilateral detection rate was achieved by combining the tracers.
