Combined use of mean platelet volume/platelet count ratio and platelet distribution width to distinguish between patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, those with benign tumors of the nasopharynx, and healthy subjects
Cancer Management and Research Dec 18, 2019
Zhang X, Qin YY, Chen M, et al. - Researchers assessed the impact of the combined use mean platelet volume/platelet count ratio (MPV/PC ratio) and platelet distribution width (PDW) for differential diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by retrospectively examining different hematological indications of three individual groups (208, 185, and 162 people with NPC, benign tumors of the nasopharynx, and healthy controls, respectively). They found that the MPV/PC ratio and PDW could be used as indexes of NPC. For differential diagnosis of NPC, benign tumors of the nasopharynx, and healthy controls, the MPV/PC ratio combined with PDW could be recognized as meaningful laboratory indexes. Thus, findings could improve the identification of NPC.
