Combined fibrinogen and neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio as a predictive factor in resectable colorectal adenocarcinoma
Cancer Management and Research Dec 01, 2018
Li X, et al. - Researchers investigated whether the combined fibrinogen and neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (F-NLR) has any clinical utility in patients with resectable colorectal cancer (CRC). Receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to determine cutoff values of the preoperative fibrinogen and neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for retrospectively recruited 693 patients with stage I–III CRC following curative surgery. Using the Kaplan–Meier survival method, the log-rank test, univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards models, and subgroup analyses, overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were assessed. Findings demonstrated the potential value of the F-NLR score, as a novel inflammation-based grading index, as a predictor for the prognosis and responses to chemotherapy in patients with resectable CRC.
