Combined aerobic and resistance training, and incidence of diabetes: A retrospective cohort study in Japanese older women
Journal of Diabetes Investigation Dec 21, 2018
Sawada SS, et al. - Authors studied 10,680 Japanese women between 2005 and 2010 to analyze the correlation of combined aerobic and resistance training, and the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus. They used the lowest frequency of the training group (1st quartile) as the reference and observed the hazard ratios for the second through fourth quartiles as follows: 0.95, 0.73, and 0.69 respectively and the hazard ratios were: 0.84, 0.69 and 0.61, respectively after adjusting for age, body mass index and thigh circumference implying the relation between higher frequency of combined aerobic and resistance training, and a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
